Summer Style - Home Office

Working at home is like a day at the beach! This is my first summer working at home so it was time to make my space more like a place where I could think good thoughts. We painted it this dreamy shade of blue, called Provence, and I just feel like I could dive in. There's a folding table I'm currently using as a desk. A Crate & Barrel desk would fit so nicely here :-) My organizational style is piles, so the best way for me to combat that is with baskets. The three matching file baskets work great because I can stand things in them and sort or search easily. The wipe board is where I tend to write phone messages, reminders & make lists. Inspirations get pinned on the cork board. The lamp I was using sat a little low so I propped it up on this cardboard suitcase I found at Michael's. It had a design on the top that I didn’t like so I covered it with striped wrapping paper. There is one touch from Crate & Barrel. The dish I use for clips! I'm currently using a sand pail for my pens, scissors and other stuff. I get bored with containers & change them by season. The vase holds shells we’ve collected on various vacations. The starfish are from a cousin who went to Florida. The small desk on the other side of the room houses my make-up so when my daughter has taken the bathroom hostage I can still get ready in the morning. Photos from beach vacations make me smile when I take a brain break from work. I backed them with some scrapbook paper to give them some extra color.

Looks like a guest room but on the other side I have my home office. Formerly a bland beige, I painted it my favorite blue.
My husband built this bed for our daughter but at 5'8" she's outgrown it so we swapped it with the full-size bed that used to be

Yeah sofi, when you're land-locked in Kansas the beach dreams do invade my waking moments. Not so much that I want to pour sand on the floor but the accessories help.
